The 2010 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship kicks off in a couple of hours and, like past editions of this made-for-TV event, there will be some great matches and some, well… let’s just call them other matches.

Like my buddy F-Train, I think the most entertainment will come from the Diamonds bracket, which features the biggest number of entertaining pairings, including Greenstein v. Rousso, Farha v. Esfandiari, Harman v. Tilly, Bloch v. Duke (the Raggedy match) and Hansen v. Raymer. The remaining brackets are nowhere near as well stacked, but should still provide some interesting first-round matches. In Clubs, I like Dario Minieri v. Jamie Gold and in spades, I think Negreanu v. Mercier will be worth watching closely. In the Hearts bracket, we’ll probably have to wait for the round of 32 before things get very interesting, which means Hellmuth v. Lederer should be the marquee match of the first round.

Head over to Pokerati for the full brackets and follow the action with me and F-Train over on Poker News. Unless, of course, you’re attending Mastadon Weekend.
